Strange QuarterAn independent local guide

A local guide, independently made.

StrangeQuarter.com is an independent guide to places and events around the area.

Our approach

We link to sources, show when details were checked and make room for corrections. We are independent of the councils, venues and event organisers. A listing is not an endorsement, and this site does not sell event tickets.

How the guide updates

Event listings are designed to refresh from Skiddle. The calendar covers a selected set of venues, not every event in the area. When a source is unavailable, we retain the last confirmed information, label older data and eventually remove it from upcoming listings.

We also run automated checks on venue and council source links. A page being reachable does not prove its information is current. Changes to venue details need reliable source evidence; a broken link is not treated as a closure.

Automated writing

Weekly event roundups can be written with AI from fresh, attributable event data. An automated check compares each draft with its sources before publication. If the writing cannot be verified, a straightforward roundup is compiled directly from the listings instead. Articles identify their use of AI and link to the underlying listings. They are not first-hand reviews or original reporting. These checks can still miss mistakes: always check the organiser’s current details.

Independence & revenue

The first edition has no paid venue placements or affiliate ticket links. If we introduce sponsorship or affiliate links, we will label them clearly. Paying will not turn a venue listing into an independent review.
